Gaby's work has two main components.

One relates to nature and conservation with a focus on the delicate balance between insects and plants.

The other draws from the rich traditional world of storytelling she was brought up in.

To date she has worked on six original unabridged tales collated and first published by the Brothers Grimm in the nineteenth century.

Traditionally these tales were narrated orally, handed down over generations. The Brothers Grimm published a selection for the first time in the nineteenth century. The stories are timeless reflections of human fears, beliefs and emotions. Today most of the tales we know by the Brothers Grimm have been sanitized for a younger audience, but the unabridged versions differ. In their traditional form the tales’ audience was made up of young and old alike.

She is of German and Polish descent and immigrated to Aotearoa/New Zealand in 1986.

She is a member of Print Council Aotearoa New Zealand and The Critique Group Christchurch, where peer review and a supportive network amongst artists is the core principle.
